Patna : India were 203/6 in 68.5 overs in their first innings at stumps on Day 1 in the 1st test against West Indies (WI) at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, on August 22, 2019, late night, with Rishabh Pant 9wk0 batting on 20 with 4 fours and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on 3. WI had won the toss but opted to bowl.

Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who scored 81 in 163 balls with 10 fours, first added 68 runs with opener Lokesh Rahul (44) for 4th wicket and then added 82 runs with Hanuma Vihari (32) for the 5th wicket after India were reduced to 25/3 losing the wickets of opener Mayank Agarawal (5), Cheteswar Pujara (2), and Captain Virat Kohli (9).

For West Indies, fast bowler Kemar Roach took 3/34 in 17 overs while fellow fast bowler Shannon Gabriel took 2/49 in 15 overs. Roston Chase took 1/42.
