India 151/3 in 2nd innings at stumps on day 3 against Australia in 1st test

Patna : India were 151/3 in 61 overs at stumps on day 3 in their second innings in the first test against Australia at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, Australia, on December 8, 2018, with Cheteshwar Pujara batting on 40 in 127 balls with 4 fours and Ajinkya Rahane batting on 1 in 15 balls. Captain Virat Kohli fell to spinner Nathan Lyon for 34 in 104 balls with 3 fours just 4 overs before stumps with 147 runs on board. Kohli added 71 runs with Pujara for the third wicket. India, who had scored 250 in their first innings, lead by 166 runs.

Openers Lokesh Rahul and Murli Vijay gave a good start to India adding 63 runs for the first wicket. Murli Vijay fell to fast bowler Mitchell Starc for 18 in 53 balls while Rahul fell to Josh Hazlewood for 44 in 67 balls with 3 fours and a six.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 191/7, Australia were all out for 235 in their first innings with Travis Head, 24, scoring 72 in 167 balls with 6 fours. Spinner Nathan Lyon remained not out on 24 in 28 balls with 2 fours and a six. Mitchell Starc made 15 while Josh Hazlewood was out for a duck. Both Travis Head and Hazlewood fell to fast bowler Mohammad Shami while Jasprit Bumrah accounted for Starc.

For India, spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets each while Ishant Sharma and Shami took two wickets each.
