Ara : Aaganwadi Sevikas and Sahayika of all the 15 Child Development Project Offices in Bhojpur district, under the banner of Bihar Rajya Aaganwadi Karmchari Union (BRAKU) Bhojpur, took out a procession on March 28, 2017, the fifth day of their indefinite strike, from Ramana Maidan that passed through the main thoroughfares of Ara town and culminated in front of the office of Child Development Project were they sat on dharana and also staged demonstration to press their 16 point demand.
As a result, teaching and other activities came to a grinding halt at all Aaganwadi centres in Bhojpur district. Poonam Devi, BRAKU, said that their demonstration will continued till March 31, 2017, and they would oppose anti-Polio campaign on April 2. She said that they are on strike for the last five days to press their 16 point of demand but no one was there to hear their grievances. Their demands include enhancement of their emolument up to Rs 18,000, promotion of Sevikas to the post of Supervisor and Sahayikas to the post of Sevikas, maternity and medical leaves, Provident Fund and pension facilities, and provision of job on compassionate ground
