New Delhi : The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) was notified on December 12, 2019, and has came into force w.e.f. January 10, 2020. The Rules under The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) are under preparation.
The Committees on Subordinate Legislation, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, have granted extension of time up to April 9, 2021, and July 9, 2021, respectively to frame these rules under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA), according to a PIB release.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai in written reply to question in the Lok Sabha on February 2, 2021.
