Patna : PM Narendra Modi ( NaMo) while thanking the people for the huge mandate given to the BJP-led NDA in the General Elections on May 23, 2019, evening, said that it was a mandate for the country and nationalism. Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, the PM said that the mandate, which was bigger than the one the NDA had got in 2014 General Elections, had increased his responsibility manifold. He told the countrymen that he does not carry any bitterness for the opposition parties and their leaders and would work taking every section of the society along as he believes in consensus. The people have voted for a new India, he added.

The PM promised that he would never commit any mistake intentionally and urged the people to point out if they notice any mistake in his works. ” My entire life is for this country. I shall never do anything for myself. My every moment will be spent for the nation. I bow before the 130 crore people of the country who have once again reposed their trust in me,” the PM said adding that the massive mandate to the NDA for the second consecutive term will force the entire world to acknowledge the strength of democracy in India. He said that the poll results had exposed the leaders posing themselves as secularists.

NaMo also said that corruption and dearness are common issues raised by the opposition party during elections but in the 2019 General Election the opposition could not level charges of corruption against the NDA Government nor could they raise the issue of dearness. He also asked the poll pundits to assess the ground reality before jumping to any conclusion in any election. “Never forget it is the 21st century,” the PM told the poll pundits.

He also paid tributes to the BJP workers and supporters who had sacrificed their lives in West Bengal, Kerala, Karnataka, and other places to save the democracy in the country. In West Bengal alone 80 BWP workers were killed, the PM said. The PM also said that for him the Constitution of India was supreme.

Visibly pleased over the performance of the BJP in the LS polls, the PM said , “There was time when the BJP had only two members in the Lok Sabha and today the party has stormed into power for the second consecutive termĀ  (Do Se Dobara).” He also asked the party workers and leaders no to go overboard on the success of the party and remain respectful to the people. “A lot of things were said against me by the opposition leaders during the electioneering but today I have forgotten everything,” NaMo said.

BJP President Amit Shah said that the party will expand its base in the country during the next five years. Shah said that the people have rejected the policy of appeasement being pursued by the opposition parties.

It may be recalled that the NDA is leading in 351 of the 542 parliamentary constituencies in the country.
