Patna : World No 37 Hubert Hurkacz, 24, Poland, stunned World No 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 22, Greece, in a three-set battle in men’s singles quarter-finals of Miami Open, Florida, USA, on April 1, 2021, late night. Hurkacz beat 2nd seed Tsitsipas 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 2hr 20 minute rallying back from one set down to move into the semi-finals of the tournament, an ATP Masters 1,000 event. Top seed & World No 2 Daniil Medved, 25, Russia, also lost to World No 12 Roberto Bautista Agut, 32, Spain, in quarter-finals the same day.
26th seed Hurkacz hammered 15 Aces during the match to 7 by Tsitsipas. The Greek committed 3 double faults to 1 by the Pole. Both the players won 3 break points each during the match. Tsitsipas, however, won 5 games in a row to 3 by Hurkacz. Both the players won 94 points each during the match indicating how close the contest was.
