Motihari /Bettiah :  In East Champaran District where six assembly constituencies (ACs) : Motihari, Sugauli, Raxaul, Narkatia, Dhaka, and Chiraiya, went to polls, the enthusiastic voters including women arrived much before the polling time at 2,569 polling booths on  November 7, 2020, in the 3rd and final phase of Bihar Assembly elections, covering their faces with masks and   ‘Gamachha’. The polling was over 55% in East Champaran.

Large number of  women of different age group turned up  in rural areas to exercise  their franchise. The  made a beeline for  polling booths Covid pandemic notwithstanding. At village Parsauni Kapoor under  Chiraiya assembly constituency (AC), a voter  Pramila Sah said,’Pahle  Matdan Tab Jalpan’.

East Champaran DM  cum Returning Officer Shirshat Kapil  Ashok  said that election passed off  peacefully in the district and the voters maintained the  COVID protocol  at each polling booth. No untoward incident was reported from any corner in the district, he said.

A group of  more than 20  first time voters cast their votes at  Bangala School booth in Srikrishna Nagar locality, motihari. These voters said in chorus that employment and development were the main issues. Dr Shobha Kant Chaudhary, a retired  university professor,  said  it is our  prime duty to  go to booth and cast  our vote to elect a representative. He also praised the arrangements made by the administration.

In West Champaran District, the polling  was held peaceful, fair, and fair and in the  six assembly constituencies that went to polls in the third and final phase.The Bypoll to Valmikinagar  parliamentary constituency also  passed off peacefully. The  voters  appeared quite enthusiastic at the polling booths. The

DM cum Returning Officer of West Champaran Kundan Kumar said that Covid pandemic did not dampen the spirit of voters in these in
the  six ACs: Valmikinagar, Bagaha, Ramnagar, Narkatiaganj, Lauriya, and Sikta. The district recorded 52.85% polling.
