Raxaul (East Champaran) : With heavy rains and gale lashing Tarai districts including Bara, Parsa, Sarlahi, Dhanusha, Rautahat, and Sarlahi in southern plains  of Nepal  for the last 7 days normal life has been thrown out of gear. The
Flood Forecasting Division of Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), Nepal Government, in its release has said  that these districts experienced heavy rains on July 12, 2019, and the rain will continue  for next 24 hours.

The heavy rains have already caused flood in many Tarai districts on southern  plains bordering Bihar. If there is torrential rains for next two days, things would become that much much difficult in the region. DHM, Nepal, has issued flood bulletin  predicting rise in water levels of various rivers including Gandak, Koshi, Trishuli, Bagmati, and Ghaghra.

The Flood Control Centre, river Bagmati, in its bulletin, has said that Bagmati  had already crossed the danger level  in Nepal on July 12. Similarly, rivers Lalbakeya, Saptkoshi, Ratu, Trishuli, and Kamala have also crossed the danger level. The DHM
issued  a warning on July 12, 2019, that flood waters will impact the north Bihar districts like East and West Champaran, Sitamarhi, and Madhubani. It may be recalled that all these  rivers flow in downstream  in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.              According to reports,  the rivers in spate have started eroding embankments causing even landslides at many places
disrupting the road traffic. Altogether 21 persons were killed following rains and subsequent flood related developments in Nepal in last two days, according to official sources.
