Head Asst., Danapur Nagar Parishad, Umashankar Pd, nabbed with tout taking bribe

Patna : A State Vigilance Investigation Bureau headquarters team headed by DSP Mohammad Jamiruddin arrested Head Assistant, Nagar Parishad, Danapur, in Patna district, Umashankar Prasad, and his broker Ramashankar Bharti while accepting Rs 1.67 lakh as bribe from complainant Vidyanandan Singh, Rajiv Nagar, Patna, near a petrol pump on Gola Road, Danapur. The Vigilance Bureau team also seized over Rs 22.9 lakh cash from the almirah of Uma Shankar Prasad his office at Nagar Parishad, Danapur.

Vidyanandan Singh had lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Investigation Bureau that Umashankar Prasad and his broker Ramashankar Bharti were demanding Rs 3.48 lakh from him for having helped him in the past. During verification, the Vigilance Bureau team found that Prasad and Bharti had agreed to accept Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh from Vidyanandan. After it was proved that Umashankar Prasad had demanded bribe from the complainant, the Vigilance Bureau team led a trap to arrest him and Bharti. During search, the Vigilance Bureau team seized an additional Rs 1.50 lakh cash from the possession of Umashankar Prasad.
