HC grants bail to Anant Singh in murder case

Patna: Patna High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Mokama MLA Anant Singh in a case of murder of two persons: Jawahar Singh and Prem Kumar Singh. The murder case was lodged with Bhadaur police station in 20115 by Prem Kumar Singh alleging his uncle Jawahar Singh was killed by Anant Singh and his associates. Prem Kumar Singh, who was injured in the incident, died during treatment at PMCH. Earlier, the bail petition of Anant Singh was rejected by the court.
The MLA was arrested on December 8, 2015, and was remanded to judicial custody in this case. His  lawyer Prashant Kumar Shahi strongly pleaded for bail to his client while Addditional Advocate Genral Surya Dev Yadav opposed his bail application. The court considered the bail application of the petitioner on the ground that the chargesheet has been filed by police in the case but the trial cout was yet to take cognizance. Anant Singh has now got bail in all the cases against him.
