HC cancels election of BJP MP Chhedi Paswan from Sasaram

Patna: A single bench of Patna High Court presided by Justice Kishore Kumar Mandal on Thursday passed an order  cancelling the election of Chhedi Paswan from Sasaram parliamentary constituency in 2014 General Elections.  Paswan was elected to Lok Sabha from Sasaram as the BJP nominee in 2014 LS polls defeating Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. The court had earlier reserved its order in the matter.

Ganga Mishra of Sasaram in Rohtas district had  filed an election petition in 2014 challenging the election of Paswan from Sasaram alleging the latter had concealed his criminal antecedent in the nomination paper he filed for contesting the election though three criminal cases were pending against him. he court, after hearing found the charge correct and cancelled the election of Chhedi Paswan from Sasaram. Paswan was first elected to Lok Sabha in 1989.
