Motihari : Police have seized the ;car used for kidnapping and subsequent murder of a Patna student Rambabu on January 31, 2021. SHO, Harsidhi police station (PS) in East Champaran District in North Bihar, Shailendra Kumar, on February 11, 2021, said that
police seized a car at Bettiah, which was used for kidnapping of Rambabu from Punaichak under Shastrinagar PS, Patna, for ransom. Two persons including one Golu were arrested on February 11, 2021, from Bettiah in connection with this crime. One of the accused, who belongs to Harsidhi, is evading arrest, the SHO added.
Rambabu , a college studen at Patnat, was kidnapped by his friends on January 31, 2021, from Punaichak under Shastrinagar PS, Patna, for ransom and he was killed the same night. The body was thrown into Gobindpur canal near Matiarwa under Harsidhi PS area in East Champaran District. Harsidhi police recovered body of a youngman from this canal on February 1, 2021, but the deceased could not be unidentified. The unidentified body was cremated by police after taking his photograph.
SDPO, Areraj Sub-Division in East Champaran District, Jyoti Prakash, on February 11, 2021, said that the body was later identified by Shastrinagar police, Patna, as that of slain Rambabu, who was kidnapped from Punaichak, Patna.
According to police, Rambabu was son of a retired Homeguards Jawan, and was a student at Patna. Four of his friends visited his residence at Punaichak and he went out with them but did not return. His father lodged a case with Shastrinagar PS on February 1, 2021, in this connection. This case was cracked by Harsidhi police following confession of Golu, who was arrested by police from Bettiah and Shastrinagar police identified his photo.
