Patna : Simona Halep, 26, Romania, and Caroline Wozniacki, 27, Denmark, retain their World No 1 and World No 2 position in the WTA rankings released on July 16, 2018, but Garbine Muguruza, 24, Spain, has slipped 4 places to be ranked 7th. Halep has 7,571 points while Wozniacki has 6,740 points. Muguruza has 4,620 points.

Slaone Stephens, 25, USA, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 3 with 5,463 points while Angelique Kerber, 30, Germany, has jumped 6 places to be ranked 4th with 5,305 points in the latest WTA rankings after winning the Wimbledon singles title, her third Grand Slam title. Elina Svitolina, 23, Ukraine, remains No 5 with 5,020 points while Caroline Garcia, 24, France, is No 6 with 4,730 points. Petra Kvitova, 28, Czech Republic, is 8th with 4,550 points.

Winner of 23 Grand Slam singles title Serena Williams, 36, USA, has jumped 153 places to be ranked 28th in the WTA rankings with 1,615 points after reaching final of Wimbledon 2018 where she lost to Angelique Kerber. Her elder sister and winner of 7 Grand Slam titles Venus Williams is ranked 14th 2,801 points. Maria Sharapova, 31, has jumped one place and is ranked 21st.
