Sitamarhi : Hailstorm and strong Gale lashed several blocks in Sitamarhi district on April 23, 2020, late evening, extensively damaging crops and fruits. Hails weighing up to 200 grams lashed many villages.
Wheat, Maize, Pulses, Mango, Litchi, and vegetables crops suffered massive damage under Dumra, Parihar, Bathanaha, Sonbarsa, Bajpatti, Sursand, Riga, Majorganj, Suppi, and Choraut blocks in Sitamarhi District in North Bihar. Earthen tiles, thatched and asbestos roofs were also damaged and in many cases blown away.
Sitamarhi district administration has ordered for assessment of the damage caused by the hailstorm and Gale within a week. A progressive farmer Mahendra Mishra from village Singrahia said that some compensation would be required to support the ravaged villagers.
