Hailstorm damages Mangro, Litchi, Vegetables, other crops in Sitamarhi

Sitamarhi : Squall and hailstorm damaged crops, vegetables and fruits’ foliage extensively in Sitamarhi district on March 31, 2019, late evening. Hails weighing up to 250 gm lashed many villages under Runnisaidpur, Riga, Suppi, Majorganj, and Bairgania blocks of Sitamarhi district.

Wheat crop has been extensively damaged. Mango and Litchi crops also bore the brunt and  Asbestos and earthen tiles were damaged as well. Property and crops worth several crore were lost due to the hailstorm. The villagers affected by it were seen down and dejected. Sitamarhi district magistrate Ranjeet Kumar Singh has instructed the agriculture department officials to prepare a detail report of damage caused due to the hailstorm.
