Sitamarhi : Hailstorm and gale lashed several blocks in Sitamarhi district in North Bihar on April 17, 2020, late evening, extensively damaging crops and fruits.
Hails weighing up to 250 grams lashed many villages damaging Wheat, Maize, Pulses, Mango, Litchi, and vegetables under Parihar, Bathanaha, Sonbarsa, Bajpatti, Sursand, and Choraut blocks. Hail smashed earthen tiles and asbestos roofs in several villages.
The District administration has ordered for assessment of the damage caused by hailstrom within a week. A progressive farmer Nagendra Jha of village Parsauni said that the ravaged farmers would need some compensation.
