Bhabhua : Kaimur Police on February 28, 2020, evening, arrested a government servant accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 in the name of providing government job on compassionate ground and release of pension to a widow. The arrested government employee was identified as Amarnath of Murar village in Buxar district posted in Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) in Kaimur District.
An FIR has been lodged by Bhabhua police station against Amarnath he was sent to jail after interrogation. Kaimur SP Dilnawaz Ahmad said that Jagdish Singh of Bhadehara village under Aghaura police station in Kaimur district worked in PHED at Sasaram in Rohtas district.
Jagdish Singh died on November 30, 2017. After the death of her husband, Gulatia Devi visited the PHED office at Sasaram where she met Amarnath who promised a job in the PHED on compassionate ground and release of pension of her husband and a deal was struck between them at Rs 2.50 lakh. Gulatia Devi gave Rs 50,000 to Amarnath on February 28, 2020, and the same day he called Gulatia Devi to the State Bank of India, Bhabhua Branch, to withdraw the rest amount from the bank. Meanwhile, Gulatia Devi complained to Kaimur SP against him. On her complaint, the SP sent a police team to Bhabhua branch of the SBI where police arrested Amarnath along with Rs. 50,000 cash.
