Patna : Bihar Governor cum Chancellor Lalji Tandon on February 4, 2019, exhorted the state universities and colleges to make thorough preparation for National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation as it could lead to getting Deemed University status. The state government has been making a token amount available to the universities and colleges to prepare for NAAC accreditation, Governor Tandon said while inaugurating a two-day national conference on ” Blueprint of Higher Education in Bihar” organised under the aegis of Patna University (PU) at Rajendra Mandap, Raj Bhavan.

The Governor said that he would always supports the Vice-Chancellors (VCs) doing excellent work. He, however, asked the VCs to live up to their responsibilities. The Governor stressed on making the state universities and colleges of world standard. He said that there was adequate resources available and the objective should be to move towards the goal with commitment.

Joint Secretary, HRD, Government of India, Dr N Sarvan Kumar, too asked the state varsities and colleges to get NAAC accreditation for qualitative improvement in the standard of education. About 400 delegates are participating at the conference.

Addressing the conference, NAAC chairperson Dr Virendra Singh Chauhan assured support to the state universities in organising workshops while preparing for NAAC accreditation. He said that NAAC assessment procedure is of world standard in India. Bihar Education Minister Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma also addressed the conference.
