Patna : Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik while emphasising on skill development of youth on May 18, 2018, said that a country becomes stronger only on the strength of its skilled people.
Inaugurating a day long workshop on ” Vocation Education – Challenges and Strategies” organised by Bihar Skill Development Mission for the Vice-chancellors (VCs), Pro-VCs, Registrars, and Deans of state varsities at Hotel Maurya here, Governor Malik said the skilled youth are the biggest asset of a country and youth account for 65% of India’s population.
The Governor said that at a time when the job opportunities in the global market and industrial sector is declining, it is necessary for the youth to develop skill for self-employment. He said that India needs job provider youth. The Governor said the people of India are known for their skills across the world for long. He said that the Sindhis have played a great role in the development of Dubai.
The Governor said that apart from the traditional education, the universities should develop syllabus suiting the needs of the society. He said that the universities in Bihar have initiated measures to make the courses run by them job oriented. Stating that Tourism and Agriculture can play a very important role in the development of Bihar, Governor Malik stressed on skill development of youth in these two sectors.
Labour Resources Minister Kumar Sinha and Bihar Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh also addressed the workshop. VC, Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University, Raj Nehru, threw light on different aspects of skill development.
