Patna : Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malkik on July 21, 2018, stressed on development of Bhagalpur Airport to attract international toursist to visit Vikramshila. Underlining the importance of ancient Vikramshila University, Governor Malik said that it can attract toursists from Tibet. He requested the officials of Department of Culture, Government of India, to initiate steps for the development of Vikramshila Mahavihar.

Presiding over a meeting on the conservation and development of Bihar’s historic heritage and protected sites at Raj Bhavan, the Governor said the state has a rich heritage. He said that the history of golden period of India is virtually the history of Bihar. He also referred to ‘Ashoka Stambh’ in Vaishali district describing it as a great piece of architecture. He also stressed on conservation of ‘ Prakrit Jain Shashtra Aur Ahinsha Shodh Sansthan’ in Vaishali and it needs an air-conditioning.

Secretary, Culture, Government of India, Raghvendra Singh, Bihar DEvelopment Commissioner Shashi Shekhar Sharma, Principal Secretary to Governor, Vivek Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Art, Culture, and Youth Affairs, Bihar, Chaitanya Prasad, Commissioner, Bhagalpur Division, Rajesh Kumar, Commissioner, Tirhut Division, Narmadeshwar Lal, Director General, Indian Archaeological Survey, Usha Sharma, attended the meeting.
