Patna : Bihar Governor Lalji Tandon on October 1, 2018, made a strong plea for inclusion of Gandhian Thought into the education system in view of the increasing tension, violence, terrorism, and regionalism across the country. The Governor-cum-Chancellor of state universities Tandon was addressing the 101st foundation day function of Patna University (PU) as the Chief Guest.

The Governor asked the vice-chancellos (VCs) to guide the students in their academic pursuit and said that the Chancellor Award has been instituted to develop healthy competition among the state varsities. He said that the universities not only have to maintain the academic and exam calendar but have to hold convocation in November- December every year. He also referred to the steps already taken to bring qualitative change in the higher education system including introduction of CBCS at PG level.

The Governor reminded the university authorities that PM Narendra while addressing the centenary function of PU on October 17, 2018, had invited it to join the competition to make the university world class.

VC, Patna University, Prof Rasbihari Prasad Singh recalled the glorious history of the university. He said the university was striving hard to bring qualitative changes in its functioning.
