Ara : Bihar Governor cum Chancellor Satya Pal Malik on July 18, 2018,  accepted the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor, Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, Sayyed Mumtazuddin. The news of acceptance of his resignation was confirmed around 10.30 pm on July 18. After accepting his resignation, the governor appointed Pro-VC, VKSU, Nand Kumar Sah as pro-tem VC of the university asking him to continue as VC till the appointment of the new VC.

Vice Chancellor (VC), VKSU, Sayyed Mumtazudding had resigned from his post on May 21, 2018, and sent a resignation letter to the Chancellor cum Governor. In his resignation letter to the Governor, the VC mentioned that he was unable to discharge his duty as the VC of the university honestly due to his poor health. Earlier, the VC had tendered his resignation to the Chancellor cum Governor on November 27, 2017, on personal ground but his resignation was not accepted at that time. He had withdrawn his resignation after a meeting with the Chancellor and assurance of support in discharging his duty.

The VC was determined to curb the illegal practices in the university and other colleges and was also working to streamline academic atmosphere and maintain quality of education and sanctity of examination in the VKSU but was not getting any support from any quarter. In March this year, he had some tiff with the newly elected students representatives over some facilities to them and he had threatened to resign.

Again on May 19, 2018, the leaders of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and All India Students Association (AISA) had clashed before the VC and went on rampage in the university over the issue of sitting in students union office. He tried to sort out the problem but failed and was upset and tendered his resignation on May 21, 2018, and proceeded on one month leave on medical ground. He had just returned from the leave and joined his duty on July 3, 2018. When this Reporter tried to contact the VC,  he did not receive the call. Former VC, VKSU, S M Raza, had resigned from the post on personal ground.
