GOI announces 1-day State mourning on death of Karunanidhi

New Delhi : The Government of India (GOI) on August 7, 2018,announced with profound sorrow the death of Dr M Karunanidhi, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, on August 7 at Kauvery Hospital, Chennai.

As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the National Flag will fly half-mast on August 8, 2018, in Delhi and Capitals of all States/UTs and throughout the State of Tamil Nadu, according to a PIB release. It has also been decided to accord State funeral to the departed leader.

The funeral will take place on August 8 after 4 pm at Chennai. The Government of India will observe one-day State mourning in the country on August 8 and there will be no official entertainment on the day.
