Girls’ Hostel inmates stage demonstration before VC, VKSU, office

Ara : The inmates of girls’ hostel on the campus of campus of Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, staged demonstration in front of the office of the Vice-Chancellor Nand Kishor Sah on November 20, 2018, to protest closure of the mess for the last three days.

Baby Kumari, an inmate of the hostel, said that since the opening of the University after Chhath, food was not being given to the inmates and they were getting the same from outside. She said on November 20, when they raised voice against closure of mess, the VKSU administration sent hostel guard and a grade four employee to cook food instead of a skilled cook. She said that the VKSU charges Rs 1,800 per month from each inmate for food but the food supplied to them was always of inferior quality. She said that whenever the students complained against poor quality of food or other problems, the VKSU officials  said the students have not come to study but play politics.

Baby Kumari said that the VC had assured to arrange two good cooks but to no avail so far. Registrar, VKSU, Col. Shyamanand Jha is of the opinion that the number of security guards should be reduced and cooks should be appointed in their place. But, the inmates objected to it saying the VKSU campus has become a den of anti-social elements where even the Registrar is not safe. They further complained that the Superintendent of the hostel Twinkale Kesari is not concerned with their security, cook and basic amenities.

Registrar Col. Shyamanand Jha said that he was very much concerned with the problems of the students and two cooks would be arranged for the hostel very soon. Campus Incharge Shiv Prasanna Singh said security of the girl students is very important and the VKSU administration is serious about it. He assured that number of security guards would not be slashed. When contacted, Hostel Superintendent Twinkal Kesari did not receive the call.
