Bettiah : A violent case of onesided love, in which a 19 year girl Mamata Kumari was roasted alive, came to surface at village Pokharbhinda under Muffasil police station, Bettiah, in West Champaran district on April 18, 2017, night.
Police sources said that two daughters of Rameshwar Thakur: Mamata Kumari, 19, and Samata Kumari, 16, were sleeping in a room at their house on April 18, 2017, night, when one Navnil Sharma, 21, of village Ghorahiya under Shrinagar police station in West Champaran district, who runs a physical training centre at Lalbazar, Bettiah town, allegedly poured petrol on them through ventilator and set the room ablaze in which Mamata was roasted alive and Samata sustained serious burn injuries. Mamata was learning Judo- Karate training at his centre.
SDPO, Bettiah, Sanjay Jha, and SHO Jitendra Prasad rushed to spot and brought the body for autopsy and admitted Samata Kumari to MJK sadar hospital, Bettiah, where the doctors referred her to PMCH on April 19. Navnil Sharma is still at large.
West Champaran SP Vinay Kumar said a forensic team is reaching here to inquire into the burning case and the trial of the case will be speedy.
