Buxar : A 22 year old girl was killed and her sister seriously injured when a speeding truck knocked them down near village Aathar under Vasudeo Police Outpost on Naya Bhojpur-Bikranganj main road in Buxar district on October 14, 2020, morning.
Angry villagers cut a tree and put it on road to block Naya Bhojpur-Bikramganj main road with the body paralysing movement of the vehicles for about two hours. They burnt tyres on road and raised slogans against Buxar district administration. They were demanding arrest of the truck driver and compensation to the next of kin of the deceased identified as Khushbu, 22, daughter of Bharat Tiwari of Aathar village. Her injured sister was identified as Antu Kumari, 20. The blockade was lifted after positive response from police officials. Later, police brought the body over to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
SHO, Vasudeo Police Outpost, Bigau Ram, said that Khushbu and Antu Kumari after clearing written examination for constable recruitment in Bihar police were preparing for physical test. So they used to go the field for running in the morning. On October 14, 2020, they had gone for running around 4am. As the village had no playground facility, they were running on Naya Bhojpur-Bikramganj main road when a speeding truck knocked down both the sisters. Khushbu was killed on spot while her sister Antu Kumari was seriously injured.
Antu Kumari was rushed to the Navanagar Primary Health Centre but the doctor referred her to Varanasi in view of her serious condition. The villagers flared up at the mismanagement at the PHC and non-availability of an ambulance and blocked Naya Bhojpur-Bikramganj main road.
