Giridih: A team of Jharkhand cyber cell on Wednesday morning busted a gang of criminals allegedly involved in online frauds across the region. The criminals were caught red-handed near a funeral place under Gandey police station in Giridih district.They were identified as Abhishek Verma (24), son of late Dwarika Verma, and Jitendra Pandit (22), son of late Sambhu Pandit, of the same locality.
Briefing the media at his policeline based office this after noon, Giridih SDPO, RK Mehta, said that the criminals s were forwarded to jail today.“ We had a tip off regarding the recent activities of those involved in cyber crimes across the region. As soon as we received the information, a team of cyber cell sleuths led by Gandey police station OC Shashi Ranjan visited the suspected location in Gandey and nabbed the two. They were caught red-handed while they were making efforts to cheat several ATM card holders,” Mehta added. The police officials also recovered Rs 7,000 cash, four mobile phones, various sim cards and ATM cards issued in the name of other persons.
“Most important point is that they have made their base in tough locations Gandey, Ahilyapur and areas close to Jamtara district so that they could give a slip to police. Apart from uneducated villagers, they are also targeting the innocent people in various metropolitan cities,” Mehta added.
The district unit of cyber cell had on Monday evening arrested the ‘master trainer’ of cyber criminals near Joda -simmer village under Ahilyapur police station of the district. He was identified as Ajay Kumar Mandal, a resident of the Jodasimmer.
