Ranchi ( Jharkhand) : Four parliamentary constituencies (PCs) of Jharkhand will go to polls on May 12, 2019, in the sixth phase of General Elections 2019. The four parliamentary constituencies going to polls on May 12 are : Giridih, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, and Singhbum.
Giridih (PC No. 6), Dhanbad (PC No. 7) and Jamshedpur (PC No. 9) are General seats whereas Singhbum (PC No. 10) is an ST seat.
As per the data sourced from CEO (Jharkhand) website, there are a total of 66,64,929 electors in the four PCs of which 35,05,565 are male electors, 31,79,720 female electors and 116 third gender electors. There are 84,338 electors in the age group of 18-19 years in Phase VI in Jharkhand.
The data sourced from ECI website shows that in General Election 2014, there were a total of 61,35,962 electors in these four PCs. This number has grown to 66,64,929 during General Elections 2019, an increase of 5,28,967 (8.62%) electors since last General Elections. They will exercise their franchise at 8,581 polling booths.
An interesting fact for Phase VI of General Elections is that in Jharkhand, Dhanbad PC is the smallest PC in terms of area (2177.55 Sq.Km.), yet the largest PC in terms of size of electorate (20,44,802). Fifteen candidates are in fray from Giridih PC, 20 candidates from Dhanbad PC, 23 candidates from Jamshedpur PC, and 9 candidates from Singhbum PC, according to a PIB release.
