Patna : World No 2 Chou Tien Chen, 29, Chinese Taipei, and World No 8 Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, 23, Indonesia, won their respective Group B matches in HSBC BWF World Tour Finals at Guangzhou, China, on December 12, 2019.

Chou Tien Chen beat World No 5 and 2017 World Champion Viktor Axelsen, 25, Denmark, in three-games 12-21, 21-12, 21-15 in 61 minutes at Tianhe Gymnasium, Guangzhou, China, rallying back from one game down. Chou won 54 rallies in the match to 48 by Axelsen. He won 5 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Axelsen. Axelsen, however, still leads Chou 9-2 Head to Head. Axelsen had lost to reigning Olympic champion Chen Long, 30, China, on December 11, 2019, in his first Group Match.

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting beat World No 4 Chen Long in straight games 21-12, 21-11 in 39 minutes in his second Group Match. Ginting won 42 rallies in the match to 23 by Chen Long. He won 6 consecutive points in the match to 4 Chen Long. Ginting now leads Chen Long 7-4 Head to Head. Ginting had lost his first Group Match to World N0 2 Chou Tien Chen on December 11, 2019, in a three-game thriller lasting 77 minutes.
