Patna : World No 11 B Sai Praneeth, 27, India, crashed out of Perodua Malaysia Masters, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 event at Kualalumpur, Malaysia, losing in straight games in the first round to World No 18 Rasmus Gemke, 22, Denmark.

Gemke beat Praneeth 21-11, 21-15 in 44 minutes at Axiata Arena, Kualalumpur, to enter the 2nd round of the tournament. Gemke won 42 rallies in the match to 26 by Praneeth. He won 6 consecutive points in the match to 4 by the Indian. It was first match between the two players.

World No 3 and reigning Olympic champion Chen Long, 30, China, beat World No 54 Son Wan Ho, 31, South Korea, in straight games to advance to the 2nd round. Chen Long beat Son 21-16, 21-14 in 52 minutes in first round. He won 30 rallies in the match to 30 by Son. He also won 5 consecutive points in the match to 4 by the South Korean. Chen, the 4th seed,  now leads Son 12-6 Head to Head.
