Jehanabad : Owner of a Gaya based travel company Rajesh Rai, about 45, was stabbed to death by some unidentified criminals about 120 mentre away from Karauna Police Oupost on NH 83 in Jehanabad district in the wee hours on October 29, 2017, when he was returning to Gaya from Patna on his Innova car. He was himself driving the car. The criminals threw the body on the roadside on NH 83 after killing him
Police are yet to ascertain the reasons behind his murder. The criminals had also looted his car but it was later found abandoned near a brick kiln at village Sukhdevbigha under Kako police station in Jehanabad district. Rajesh Rai was a native of Buxar district but was running his business from Gaya for the past several years.
Jehanabad SP Manish Kumar said that Rajesh Rai was stabbed to death not shot dead as no bullet was found in his body. The SP said that Rajesh Rai was stabbed to death at 1 am on October 29. He said police were investigating into the reasons behind Rajesh Rai’s murder. Police did not rule out professional rivalry or property dispute as the reason behind the murder.
