New Delhi : During the financial year 2019-20, the final allocation for the Namami Gange Programme is Rs 1,553.44 crore against the Budget Allocation of Rs 1,970.00 crore. The Government of India has released Rs 1,553.40 crore to National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) during the current financial year till February 29, 2020. The expenditure as on March 13, 2020, is Rs 2,453.91 crore which includes the carry forward funds of previous year.

The final allocation for Namami Gange Programme for the financial year 2018-19 was Rs 2,370.00 crore against which Government of India released Rs 2,307.50 crore to NMCG. The expenditure was Rs 2,626.54 crore which includes the carry forward funds of previous year. The programme has gained momentum and utilisation of funds have substantially picked up since FY 2017-18.

The final allocation for financial year 2019-20 is sufficient to meet the funds requirement of current financial year. The Budgetary Allocation for the Namami Gange Programme, for the financial year 2020-21 is Rs 1,640.02 crore. Based on the progress of projects under the programme, if additional funds are required, the revised allocation will be sought from the Government at RE stage. This information was given by the Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti & Social Justice and Empowerment Rattan Lal Kataria in a written reply in Lok Sabha on March 19, 2020, according to a PIB release.
