Motihari: East Champaran Civil Surgeon Dr Prashant Kumar has ordered a fresh probe by a three-member committee into the cases of aleged removal of uterus of some women of the district by empanelled clinics and nursing homes to pocket health insurance money under Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana.
On the orders of East Champaran DM Apupam Kumar cases were lodged against 11 private nursing homes of the district last week by the health department on charges of irregularities in removal of uterus in a
fraudulent manner and making fraudulent claims under Rashtriy Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY) Such cases surfaced during 2011-12 but district administration did not take any action against the doctors or Insurance company concerned.
Dr Kumar said that a delegation of Indian Medical association (IMA) led by Dr Niraj Sinha and D Nath met him and demanded fresh probe into such cases claiming the allegations made against the doctors were false. IMA alleged that the said Insurance company had provided health smart cards to the family members of BPL with
wrong address of village and police stations. The IMA delegation claimed the doctors had not removed uterus unwanted but yet cases were lodged against them. The IMA has also lodged complaint with the Medical Council of India (MCI).
Dr Kumar said Dr Sachchida Nand Singh, Dr Nutan Sinha and DPM Amit Achal are the members of the new
probe team and they will meet all the patients and record their statements. He has directed the team to submit its report at the earliest. Police have not initiated action against accused doctors.TheIMA has threatened strike if action is initiated against any doctor by police.
