France enter FIFA World Cup Semi-finals

Patna : France entered the semi-finals (SFs) of FIFA World Cup 2018 defeating twice champion Uruguay 2-0 in the quarter-finals at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, Russia, on July 6, 2018. Defender Raphael Varane scored the first goal for France in the 40th minute with a header while Antoine Griezmann scored the second goal in the 61st minute.

France had won the World Cup in 1998 while Uruguay won it in 1930 and 1950. Uruguay had reached the SFs in 2010.
