Ara : Four women on morning walk were killed when a speeding Scorpio dashed them on Bihia-Bihata main road near Dev-Chanda (Dechana) Bridge under Piro police station (PS) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar on October 29, 2021. The driver escaped with the vehicle.

Irate villagers blocked the Bihia-Bihata main road with the body and demanded arrest of the driver. They paralysed movement of vehicle raisingslogans against the district administration and also demanded compensation to the next of kin of the deceased. The blockade was lifted after positive response from police officials.

Later, police brought the bodies over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The deceased were identified as Motijharo Devi, wife of Vakil Singh; Manti Devi, wife of Badak Singh; Urmila Devi, wife of Hari Prasad Singh; and Saraswati Devi, wife of Ashok Singh Yadav of village Ojhawalia.

SHO, Piro PS, said that four women of village Ojhawalia were on walk on October 29, 2021, morning, on Bihia-Bihata main road near Dev-Chanda Bridge when a speeding Scorpio knocked them down and the driver escaped from the scene. The impact of the collision was so high that all the four women were thrown about 20 feet away in the field and died on the spot.
