Bhagalpur : Four persons were killed while three others sustained serious injuries when a speeding truck carrying them rammed a stationary truck near Kharik police station on NH-31 on May 1, 2020, midnight in Naugachhia police District. Naugachhia SP Nidhi Rani said that bodies were sent for post-mortem while injured were admitted to Referral Hospital.
According to police sources, Gopal Pandey, 35, and his wife Usha Devi,30, were coming from Katihar on foot on way to their native place Ranchi, Jharkhand, in lockdown. Gopal Pandey was working at a factory at Katihar but the factory was closed and they had exhausted all their money. The couple boarded a truck for Patna near NH-31 chowk at Naugachhia in which 3 more passengers were
already sitting. After covering some distance, the truck rammed a stationary truck and the couple with the Driver and Helper of the truck were killed on the spot while three others injured.
Acoording to police, the deceased were identified, with the documents recovered from their possession, as Gopal Pandey and his wife Usha Devi of Ranchi, Gunjan Kumar, Driver, and Sunil Kumar, Helper, of Hilsa in Nalanda District. The family members of deceased were informed by the police.
