Bettiah : Four Maoists were killed in an encounter with a joint team of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Special Task Force (STF) in Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve (VTR) area under Laukariya police station in West Champaran District in North Bihar on July 9, 2020, late night. Police recovered an AK 47, three SLRs, and an autometic rifle from the spot located in Bagaha area, according to sources.
According to police sources, two SSB jawans sustained injuries in the encounter and were admitted to Sub-Divisional Hospital, Bagaha. Police claim that a Zonal Commander was among the four naxalites killed in the encounter. Police carried out search operation against the naxalites on a tip off that they had gathered in VTR forest area. The maoists opened fire on police. Police returned the fire killing four of them. Police are trying to identify them.
