Nawada: Environment and  Forest department and Nawada police, in a joint raid conducted on March 2, 2017, arrested four mahadalits for killing a forest deer and selling its meat and hide.

Police also recovered the weapon, a bloodstained axe, besides the horn and a lump of deer flesh from their possession. Later, they were produced before Nawada CJM, who remanded them to judicial custody. Ranger Vimal Kumar and Kauakol police station SHO Manoj Kumar said the deer was trapped in Kauakol jungles by Bishnudeo Manjhi, Munni Manjhi, Bhola Manjhi and Sharan Pasi and axed to death on March 1 evening.
In another incident, Nawada SP Vikash Burman on March 2 informed about the arrest of leader of a gang involved in firing and demanding extortion from TMC, a construction company, belonging to rape-accused Nawada RJD MLA Rajballabh Yadav, lodged in Biharsharif jail since April, 2016.

SP Burman said that Shera Yadav, a native of village Sewabigha under Bodh Gaya police station in Gaya district, and three of his associates had fired at the TMC manager at his office on February 18, 2017, midnight and had left a letter demanding a huge levy. A police team has been rushed to Mohanpur PS in Gaya for nabbing the three associates of Shera Yadav.
