Bagaha : Tight security arrangements made by West Champaran district administration to hold free, fair and impartial polls to Bagaha Nagar Parishad notwithstanding, former minister and former MP JD(U) from Gopalganj Purnmasi Ram, his brother Rajesh Ram, MLC, were seen moving with folded hands on the premises of booths (A,B) of ward number 12, seeking votes for his son and former chairman of Bagaha Nagar Parishad Vijay Ram in the presence of static force on May 21, 2017.

One of the contestants from the ward number 12 Suresh Kumar Mishra of the ward  lodged protest with the State Election Commission and local administration in this connection. Till last municipal elections, this ward was made reserved for scheduled caste but it has fallen in unreserved category. Yet, Vijay Ram, former chairman of Bagaha Nagar Parishad is contesting from this ward. Replying to a query of a group of mediapersons standing near the booth, Purnmasi Ram said, ” “Takatwar hi Vikas Kar Sakta Hai” (only an influential person can develop the ward).

Bagaha police district SP Shankar Jha said that Bagaha Nagar Parishad elections passed off peacefully. Two persons of ward number 19 identified as Abdul Mian and Mithilesh Prasad detained during the poll as a preventive measure.
