Patna:  Former chairman of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Lalkeshwar Prasad  Singh and his wife and former JD(U) MLA Usha Sinha, who was removed as principal of  Ganga Devi Mahila College, Patna,  last week, were arrested from a small hotel at Bhelupur in central Varanasi in UP early Monday morning.

They are being produced before a magistrate at Banaras where special investigation team of Bihar police would seek transit remand.The couple, who were wanted in the Intermediate examinations result scam, would be brought to Patna by Monday evening .
Confirming the arrest, Senior SP of Patna Manu Maharaaj said  a team of SIT was camping at Varanasi and it got a confirmed input that they were staying at a small hotel at Bhelupur .They were caught and taken to an undisclosed location at Varanasi for preliminary investigations. He claimed their arrest was a big success for SIT as they were absconding since June 8.

Their arrest was possible following information given by the kingpin of the scam Bachcha Rai, principal of Vishun Rai College, Bhagwanpur, Vaishali, who was on two-day police remand till Sunday evening. Police arrested principals of three different colleges in Muzaffarpur and Vaishali on Saturday and Sunday and brought them to Patna for questioning. They were trustees of educational institution run by Bachcha Rai. Police had arrrested personal assistant of former chairman of BSEB two days back.
