Bagaha :  Armed timber smugglers thrashed Forest Range Officer, Bagaha, Sanjiv Kumar, and looted Rs 46,000 from him on October 14, 2018, when he had gone to seize timber logs being carried on a tractor-trolley by them in Malakauli locality under Nagar Parishad, Bagaha. The timber smugglers had illegally felled trees from the forests.

Incharge, Pathakauli Police Outpost, Rajesh Kumar, on October 15 said that the Forest Range Officer Sanjiv Kumar has lodged a case with the Police Outpost against three alleged timber smugglers of the locality : Adarsh Shukla, Shyam Shukla and Baliram Chaudhary, charging them with carrying timber logs on a tractor- trolley and when he reached there to seize the logs they assaulted him and allegedly looted Rs 46,000 kept in his bag. Incharge, Police Outpost, Kumar, said that police were searching for the three accused.
