Muzaffarpur : Flood water has entered several low lying areas of Muzaffarpur town, headquarters of Tirhut Division in North Bihar, triggering panic among the locals. Three persons including a minor girl drowned to death under flood affected Aurai, Katra and Sahebganj blocks of Muzaffarpur district.

The water of Lakhandei and Manushyamara rivers is inundating fresh areas under Aurai and Katra blocks. Muzaffarpur DM Dharmendra Singh said that senior officers were capming in the flood affected areas of the district and rescue and relief work was going on war footing. Five blocks of the district have been affected by the flood.

On the other hand, the flood had claimed 12 lives in Sitamarhi district till August 17, 2017. Ten blocks of the district are affected by flood. In neighbouring Sheohar district, the flood had claimed two lives till August 17. Four blocks of Sheohar are affected by the flood.
