Bagaha : With the flood in diferent hilly rivers originating from Nepal slowly receding, life is gradually returning to normal though thigh to neck deep water is still flowing in low lying areas under Bagaha Sub-division in West Champaran district with relief materials not reaching the afected areas.
An airforce helicopter on August 18, 2017, started dropping food packets under Serawa Done and Karmahiya panchayat under Ramnagar block area, where people are reeling under the flood for the last six days on Friday.
Meanwhile, road communication, which was snapped between Bagaha and  Bettiah , district headquarters of West Champaran, and Valmikinagar which connects to Nepal, restored on August 18. Bagaha Railway Station Superintendent Jai kumar Srivastawa said that rail traffic, which was paralysed for the last six days due to flood, has also resumed through DMU train that too only from Bagaha to Gorakhpur. The movementof trains on Bagaha-Bettiah via Narakatiaganj section under Samastipur Division of East Central Railways (ECR) is still disrupted.
Bagaha SDM Dharmendra Kumar said that plugging of breached PP embankment started on August 18 on war footing. The embankment breached on August 15, 2017, inundating a large number population under Bhitaha, Madhubani and Thakaraha block besides bordering Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh (UP).
Bagaha Nodal officer, Flood and Relief works, Jai chand Yadav said that about 8,995 food packets besides 2,500 piece of polythenesheet had already been distributed and process continues.
