Sitamarhi : Five persons including two women died in a head on collision between an autorickshaw and pickup van due to  dense fog in Sitamarhi district at 8.30 am on December 25, 2019. The collision occurred near village Korlahia on NH 77 Sitamarhi–Muzaffarpur under Mahindwara police station. Angry villagers blocked NH77 near village Harirampur for several hours after the accident.

All the deceased were occupants of autorickshaw. A youth escaped unhurt as he jumped out of the auto before collision. The deceased were identified as Phulendra Jha, 32, Kavita Devi, 28, driver Ravi Jha, 25, Meera Jha, 50, and cleaner Mahesh Kumar Mahto, 15, all residents of village Vasantpur under Aurai police station in Muzaffarpur district. The autorickshaw carrying  passengers was going from Vasantpur to Muzaffarpur. The pick-up van was coming from Muzaffarpur. The bodies were sent to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH),  Muzaffarpur, for autopsy. The pick-up van driver fled away from the site leaving the vehicle behind.
