Motihari : Five girls, all below 12 years, of village Murgiyatola in Ahirauliya panchayat underRamgarhwa  police station (PS) in East Champaran District in North Bihar, drowned to death in a villge pond on August 24, 2021. Police sent the bodies for post-mortem to Sadar hospital, Motihari. The  girls aged  between 8 to 12 years had gone near a village pond with  goats for grazing.

Kamlesh Singh, ASI, Ramgarhwa PS, said that deceased were identified as Suggi Kumari, Sarita Kumari, Kaushalya Kumari, Sima Kumari, and Shobha  Kumari, all natives of  village Murgiyatola. They  had gone to take bath in a pond during which Suggi Kumari slipped into deep water and started drowning. The rest four girls too went into deep water one by  one in order to  save her but unfortunately all of them drowned, police. Murgiyatola is a flood affected village.

Bhikhari Das, Mukhiya of Ahirauliya panchayat, said police with support of  locals  fished out  the bodies in presence of  Circle Inspector  Sunil kumar  and  sent bodies for autopsy.
