Bettiah ;  At least five  persons were killed  on Monday  at different  villages  in West  and East Champaran districts  when  a strong wind with heavy rain lashed  the two districts. Moreaway than 50 trees were uprooted  and 100 of thatched houses were  blown away.  The telephone and electric  poles and wires  were  also damaged  in both the districts on  large scale.

According to  official sources,  Hari Prasad, 40, of Telkhuakhap  village and Rishu Kumar of Gahari Kachahari village
under Nautan block in West Champaran district were killed separately  when  trees fell on their houses. Sanjiv Kumar,  21, along with a friend  from village Tilangahi under Bairiya block in West Champaran were killed  in mango orchard  when a tree fell on him. West Champaran DM Lokesh kumar Singh   said that the family of each deceased  would be given relief of Rs 4 lakh each.

In East Champaran,  one  Shambhu Ram  was killed in Paharpur  when a tree fell on him.
