Sasaram : Five persons died after consuming spurious liquor at different places during Holi under Kochas police station areas in Rohtas District in South Bihar. The district administration, however, has failed to take any action in this regard so far. Family members of the deceased also admitted that the death was caused due to Hooch. The five deaths due to consumption of liquor clearly indicates that liquor is easily available across the state including remote areas prohibition enforced in Bihar since April 2016 notwithstanding.
Ram Awatar Ram of village Chawari under Kochas police station in Rohtas district died allegedly after taking spurious liquor. Lakhpati Devi, wife of deceased, said that condition of the deceased deteriorated after taking liquor and he was admitted to the Hospital where he breathed his last.
In another incident, Manoj Ram and Vinod Chauhan died after taking spurious liquor iat a village under Kochas police station. Lali Devi, wife of Manoj Ram, and Meena Devi, sister-in-law Vinod Chauhan, admitted that they had taken liquor on Holi and fell ill. They were admitted to a private clinic where they died during treatment.
Likewise, Rajesh Chauhan of village Kanjar under Kochas police station and Satish Kumar Singh, son of Girija Shankar Singh of Rampur village under Kargahar police station, died allegedly after taking spurious liquor.
