Patna: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday urged people to have faith in the working of Bihar police. He was reacting to the reports of arrest of five people earlier in the day in connection with the murder of Siwan  journalist Rajdev Ranjan on May 13.

Nitish said the habit of misinterpreting every incident should be avoided. He said the police would go into the depth of the murder case and no one would be spared .”The people with high connections(bade rusukh wale) will also be caught,” the CM said.

The CBI took over the investigation of the case on Wednesday and registered a preliminary enquiry (PE) case here, according to ADG (law and order), Bihar police, Sunil Kumar. He said Rohit Kumar(25),Vijay Kumar(25), Rajesh Kumar (25), Rishu Kumar (20) and Surendra Kumar Gupta(25), all of Siwan town, have been arrested. Rohit had fired on the journalist. Police claimed to have recovered the pistol, cartridiges and three motor cycles used by the assailants.

Siwan SP Saurabh Kumar Sah had led the special investigating team (SIT), which arrested the five youths . The SP said one Laddan Miyan, who was lodged in Siwan jail along with the former RJD MP Mohammad Shahbuddin, had allegedly given Rs 15,000 to Rohit to kill the journalist. Police are looking is in search of Laddan who was recently released on bail. The ADG said there were hints that the murder was linked to Siwan jail inmate(Shahbuddin).

Sunil Kumar said the motive of the murder is yet to be investigated as the shooters have simply said they had got Rs 15000 to eliminate Rajdev.,

Shahbuddin was shifted to Bhagalpur jail last week following recovery of large number  of mobile sets and  presence of over 60 unauthorised visitors, who had come to meet him, in the jai.  His seven close associates were also shifted to Motihari, Patna and Gaya jails next day.

To clear the charges of RJD’s  association in the crime, RJD president  Lalu Prasad had issued a statement through the press secretary of deputy chief minister Tejaswhi Yadav that the Grand Allianc was intact and the tie up between RJD and JD(U) would remain strong.
