Ara : A named FIR has been lodged with Piro Police Station (PS) against the then Station House Officer (SHO) Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Sub-Inspector (SI) Ram Kumar Hembram, and lady constables : Naina, Priyanka, and Khushboo, in connection with death of one Shobha Devi under mysterious circumstances on Piro PS campus while under police custody. The FIR was lodged on the statement of Prakash Kumar alias Nitu, son of the deceased Shobha Devi.

Prakash Kumar alleged that all the named police personnel intruded his house around midnight on September 8, 2021, and caught him and his mother Shobha Devi, wife of Munna Prasad of Mothi village, abused them, snatched their mobile phones, and brought them over to Piro police station. When Shobha Devi wanted to know as to why police had arrested her without warrant, the police personnel thrashed her, did not serve food to her for three days and also did not give medicine, Prakash alleged. Later,  she was strangulated to death with a towel and hanged to the window of the bathroom on the campus of the police station to give it the colour of suicide, he further alleged.

Prakash Kumar further said that a lady constable informed him that his mother committed suicide on the morning on September 12, 2021. He went there and saw her mother hanging to the window of the bathroom. After different organisations resorted to agitation and demanded FIR of murder against the police personnel concerned, Bhojpur SP Vinay Tiwari suspended the SHO and four other  police personnel.

Bhojpur SP Vinay Tiwari said that police had arrested Shobha Devi and his son Prakash Kumar alias Nitu of Mothi village and brought them to the Piro police station to quiz them in connection with murder of a country doctor. Shobha Devi gave some clues regarding the murder of the doctor that suggested her involvement in the crime, the SP added.
