Muzaffarpur: The Excise & Prohibition Department, Muzaffarpur, on November 28, 2017, lodged an FIR against 14 persons including a senior journalist in connection with seizure of 300 cartons of foreign liquor worth Rs 1 crore, a truck carrying the liquor and six four-wheelers after November 26, 2017, midnight, at Motipur in the district.

Giving this information, Excise Superintendent, Muzaffarpur, Deenbandhu, said that those against whom FIR had been lodged include liquor dealers Rajesh Singh, Motipur, Muzaffarpur, Manoj Singh, Baruraj, Muzaffarpur, owner of the truck bearing Haryana registration number, owners of the six four-wheelers including a Swift Dezire and a Scorpio with a ‘press’ sticker on it and three persons arrested at the time of seizure.

Deenbandhu said the Scorpio is owned by a senior jounalist, local Bureau Chief of a Newspaper group. The driver of the Scorpio was also interrogated, he said. All the six four-wheelers were seized while unloading the liquor brought over from Haryana by the truck.

” We collected information about the owners of the six seized four -wheelers before lodging FIR against them,” Excise Superintendent Deenbandhu said. He said the named accused would be arrested.
